Look behind you….don’t see anyone? If that’s the case my friend then you”re probably not the leadership of your mlm organization. You are either following everyone or just going for a walk alone. I know, you’re doing all the stuff the book told you; but the solution may be hidden in these rarely discussed leadership characteristics.

There are five essential elements that are key characteristics to successful leadership in a network marketing business. We all here regularly hear about attitude, discipline, skill, determination and the like. But the ones rarely mentioned are alignment, alpha leadership, being present, preparation and professionalism. So lets just get to it cuz you’ve got places to go, things to do, people to lead..right?

Since we’re all acustomed to “A” being the start…its as good a place as any to begin. So, “Alignment” is a word we seldom use when speaking of the subject of leadership. But it is critical to your business success. What needs to be aligned is the real question, and how does this whole alignment thing work??

If you think of this in musical terms you can easily see the point. A symphony, for example, is simply a well orchestrated aray of instruments notes and musicians all carefully organized to perform a single melody. A note struck out of harmony with that melody woud be considered “sour” because it is out of alignment with the melody.

Your vision is the melody you want to play. Your plan of action and goals are the score. Mind and body would be the instruments and your own beliefs, thought s and emotions are the notes being played. Alignment would be the harmonious blend of your vision, written goals, action plan, belief, thoughts and emotions carefully orchestrated to perform the melody you intend.

The second characteristic…”Alpha” … (the first letter of the Greek alphabet) has to do with posture. An alpha persona…is simply the air of confidence one exude when they are extremely secure in their ability and identity. Just like animals can sense fear, people can since your doubt. No one will follow a leader who is not supremely confident in his/her ability to lead. As you develop your alpha personality you will be followed from b to z. Get it b to z??……O-kkk

A wandering mind leads to procrastination which leads to hours of wasted time. “Being Bresent” is the trait that allows you to focus your attention on the business at hand in the moment it is at hand. That level of focused concentration that causes you to be completely available to the task in the moment it needs you most. If you want to be an effective leader..BE PRESENT!

Everyone wants to succeed, not everyone is mentally or emotionally prepared to succeed. “Preparation” has to do with mental toughness and emotional maturity at a level above the level of success you envision. If you want to win at anything, you can’t wear your heart on your sleave. Effective leadership entails a level of mental and emotional awareness that strengthens you to push through all obstacles, even if it means leaving people that you care about behind.

“Professionalism” is the act of going beyond average and mediocre to a level of excellence. The world is full of average un-professiolism. But real, professional leaders sow seeds of faith and confidence and people follow them because of the boundless energy they emit. More than just mere appearance, the true professional is an inspiration to be imulated not because of what he has acumulated…but because of who he is! Before you become a leader..you will be a professional.

Developing these characteristics will no doubt challenging. But the journey we undertake in our quest for success and fulfillment is meant to test us and to challenge us and in the end to mold us into something we can be proud of.
