The 3 Backlinking Techniques I Use

The land of SEO seems daunting and evolves all the time. I love SEO, and for that I consider myself fortunate because it’s a great skill to have if your operate a business. If you’re getting into SEO, or have even been doing it for some time, it can seem daunting … especially all the suggested techniques for building links to your site(s). It’s crazy. Which method should you use? What is the best use of resources for the biggest effect?

I love doing SEO and experimenting with different techniques. I’ve been doing it for my websites for several years. Frankly I can’t tell you definitively which is the best combination of techniques because there is no one ultimate method. After all, black hat techniques may work for a while and be very effective, but may not work out in the long run. The real question is what are some solid white hat linking techniques.

My 3 Linking Techniques

1. Publishing articles on article directories.

This is an old-time, but still effective SEO technique as long as you strive for syndication. The key is submitting quality articles so that other webmasters will syndicate your work. Syndication is the real power of article marketing because every time your article is published elsewhere, you’ve built links to your website(s). This is backlinking on auto-pilot (once you’ve submitted your article to the article directory).

I appreciate that many of your published articles won’t be on high PR URLs. This is a quantity technique rather than quality technique (although I’ve syndicated articles to high PR blogs). However, you can gain many links quickly. More importantly, you can build backlink diversity in terms of backlink source and to many of your website’s inner pages.

2. Guest Blog Posting.

I’ve come to love this technique. Yes, it requires a little legwork, but works wonders in the long run. I resisted this method for some time because it seemed like a lot of work. But when I actually started thinking about it, I realized this is a simple method to gain both high PR links and traffic. The key is finding high PR and high traffic websites that accept guest posts. Fortunately many do.

Not only do you need to establish relationships with webmasters, but you need to put some extra time into your articles. Strive for providing quality. Moreover, if the target website requires unique articles (most do), that you provide unique articles. Once you establish a great working relationship with a few great websites, you have an endless source of quality links to your website(s). Moreover, you can establish your own readership on those blogs.

3. Dofollow blog commenting.

I don’t restrict my commenting to dofollow blogs, so yes, I comment on many nofollow blogs because I love participating in dialogue on many blogs. But I also seek out blogs with dofollow comments enabled. There are 2 very important elements to blog commenting.

i. Do not spam such as restricting your comments to “nice post”. You must write intelligent comments that contribute to the discussion. Do not spam and don’t use automated commenting software.

ii. You must find high PR blogs with dofollow commenting enabled. This is not so easy. But when you get your hands on a list of high PR blogs with dofollow commenting enabled, again you have access to an endless supply of wonderful backlinks that take little resources.
