Getting excellent traffic to your sites or fanpages is certainly possible with Twitter if you are willing to put the time and effort into it. The real power of Twitter is it can be enormously viral because your network of friends there can help you – but that is after you develop business friendships and not before. We know you would love to get in on the retweet action available there, so let’s cover that in some detail.

In order to make anything happen, you need to have at least a few solid relationships at Twitter. Once you have some solid friendships, then just be direct and send them a message in which you ask for their help with a retweet. People generally are willing to respond positively if you explain why you need their help. So just imagine if you made a lot of friends, the possibilities can really begin to get large.

Businesses can be mutually beneficial, and that is an important concept for you to remember. If you want your followers to get in the habit of retweeting your tweets then keep supplying them with information that’s worth sharing. The content that you tweet to your followers should be highly targeted and shouldn’t be promotional, but rather helpful. You have to make your followers feel that you’re not barraging them with any commercial information that’s of no use. The more you know your market, and your followers, then you will naturally know what they want to hear about. You cannot ever have a clue about their needs unless you understand your market.

Still, do not go crazy with your tweets because that can create a negative impression on you.

There are people there at Twitter who have already been using these approaches with great results. Keep in mind, though, that you still need to give people excellent content so they will want to retweet it. The tips that we discussed here are very simple to apply, but once you do, you’ll see great results in the long run – so don’t underestimate the power of retweeting.
